Richard
Twose

Seeing Twose's paintings up close was really interesting because I could see the thin parts of the paint and the thick and there is a desolate aura to his paintings - the single figure in a rather empty interior with large barren walls makes me feel a bit uneasy this was amplified when i looked at the girls face because the way hes painted the figure he has blurred her features so there is a lack of identity but i quite like this as it makes the pieces more mysterious and conceptually deeper with many possible interpretations. For me personally with all the blurred areas these pieces feel quite dream like. Another stylistic technique i like about Twose's work is the way hes disfigured the 'background' by adding excessive oil to crack the paint and make a dripping effect.
