Lupton focuses his work around psychology in a contemporary society. His paintings create a narrative which is what I particularly like about his work. As a viewer you can really depict the internal struggle the figures have by the distorted, fragmented compositions and this is something I would like to develop in my own work. He uses a neutral palette with earthy natural tones no bright colours, this is done to emphasise the internal battle and sombre atmosphere / feeling. He applies paint relatively thickly and the strokes are clearly visible and adds texture and depth to his pieces.
