ART 246: November 28th

After speaking to my tutors i felt it was a good idea to strip my paintings back a bit and show a more 'loose' application and approach to them and take a step back from the heavily worked skin and dark brown colour tones. Daniel Segrove is an artist i came across that combines both detailed and abstract parts to a piece and i love the finish and wanted to try his style out with my own compositions. i have used oil and acrylic for my paintings and did an acrylic overlay to a photo above.

This is an A2 acrylic piece using a brush and palette knife, i kept the colours basic using only blue, black, red and white however i wasn't 'happy' with the figure and felt it needed a little bit more work...

Taking the painting a step further i worked oil paint into the figure and rearranged the acrylic on the page to show a new image using the same forms as the first attempt. I much prefer this painting because it still looks loose but there is more going on in the skin which is captivating and contrasts better with the bold block forms.
