October 13th:
Started off my project with some A5/A4/A3 pencil sketches of some body and facial compositions and then played around with some acrylic paint as an overlay. This allowed me to test out a pink colour palette. The scraped layered paint adds a rawness to the sketches and amplifies a feeling of inner struggle and makes the drawings a lot less 'clean cut'.
The primary medium i'm using for this project is oil paint so i went straight in with some practice oil paint pieces both on paper and on a small canvas. I did this to mainly figure out what colours work best and practice building up layers. I also had a go at some backgrounds - this is something i want to really develop throughout the project, rather than have just a coloured block background, have it like an interior to form a narrative.
