Petra Collins is a Canadian artist, photographer, fashion model and director. With an array of short films and editorials, i particularly liked her short film which re-interprets the work of artist Georgia O’Keeffe because of its soft pastel outer world feel to it. using a 4:3 frame gave it a unique perspective as now elements in the composition were cut off deliberately so we only see an obscure view.

 

The music video she directed for Selena Gomez' song 'Fetish' is another piece i admired, clearly influenced by flowers and nature as well as light and shadows and pastel-hued soft filters, Collins is able to create what feels like an alternate world within the frame. The softness of the filter, colour and prop choices juxtaposes the composition and movement in the piece..

Her photography echoes the same aesthetic that her films convey.
