ART 246: December 28th

Taking a break over christmas allowed me to look at the work ive done and i realised i hadn't worked on a lot of different surfaces like i had initially wanted to. So, i did an oil piece on a mirror to bring about the idea of self image and what comes with it... Not loving your appearance is something nearly everyone feels. i tried to visualise this by amplifying the velocity of make up on the face and then by smearing it across the face to distort the image. It's a very emotive piece which is what i wanted to achieve rather than it be a well worked detailed painting.

Being low on materials i improvised and used this cardboard box to make a 3D model of the empty room i had been painting earlier in the project. this was purely experimental and sort of random but it's quite cute and i do like it - i could take this further by doing a few 3D rooms and making an empty house out of boxes. i did find it difficult getting the light and dark parts of the walls right because the shadows off the lid kept interfering it was also quite hard getting the proportions of the doorway right.
